Gisele Bündchen marked Mother’s Day 2025 with an emotional social media post, opening up about life as a mother of three and revealing the first-ever glimpse of her newborn daughter, River, whom she welcomed in February with her boyfriend, Joaquim Valente.
The Brazilian supermodel, 44, stunned fans when she announced her pregnancy in October 2024, nearly two years after finalizing her divorce from NFL legend Tom Brady. Since River’s birth, Bündchen and Valente had kept their daughter out of the spotlight—until now.
On May 11, Gisele shared heartfelt reflections on Instagram, explaining her absence from the public eye in recent months.
“I’ve been quiet over here but very busy living life,” she wrote. “Sometimes the most beautiful moments aren’t shared—they’re simply lived. Lately, I’ve been embracing the slower rhythms, the real connections, the beauty in the lessons that come with being present.”
The post included two tender images that gave fans their first look at baby River—while still preserving her privacy. In the first photo, the infant is dressed in an adorable “I ❤️ Mom” outfit, resting peacefully on Gisele’s shoulder as she smiles warmly in the sunlight.
In a second image, Gisele is seen in a loving group hug with her new blended family: Joaquim Valente at her side, and her two children with Tom Brady—Benjamin and Vivian—leaning in to embrace their baby sister. Despite the intimacy of the moment, Gisele placed a small heart emoji over River’s face to maintain her daughter’s privacy.
Remembering her late mother
Mother’s Day was also a deeply emotional day for Gisele as she mourned the absence of her own mother, Vania Nonnenmacher, who passed away in January 2024 after a battle with cancer.
“Today, on Mother’s Day, I especially miss my mom,” Gisele shared with her 23 million Instagram followers. “But my heart is full.”
Vania, a retired banker and mother of six, was a central figure in Gisele’s life. The two shared a close bond, often seen together in family photos and red carpet moments. Her loss continues to weigh heavily on Gisele and her sisters.
