In England, there are new rumors about Pochettino’s interest in searching for a striker. At the same time the Arabs ready to make a new bid for Osimhen.
The contentious tweet of Roberto Calenda (Osimhen’s agent), in which he threatened possible legal actions, is a clear signal of rupture with the ‘Partenopei’ club, which is accused of having published and left online for too long a video that mocked Victor Osimhen.
Such tension, in a negotiation that never really took off for the player’s contract renewal, reopens the doors for him leaving this summer and maybe even earlier.
Latest reports from most outlets in England say Chelsea are interested in the player, and want him this winter. This move does make sense, the Londoners are currently struggling in the Premier League, with only five points (and as many goals scored) in the first six matchdays. The Nigerian’s goal-scoring qualities would be more than welcome for Pochettino.
Also, a resurgence from Saudi Arabia in January cannot be ruled out. Al Hilal had promised the striker a lucrative five-year deal worth between โฌ40 and โฌ45 a year in August (which the player accetpted) and were even willing to pay the 200 million requested by De Laurentiis. The president had rejected the offer, even mockingly: “For that money you can’t even buy his toe,” he had written in an email.
Will Osimhen move in January, maybe it’s unlikely but the player’ contract expires in 2025 and Napoli has to make sure not to mismanage this issue. At the moment there is no way for the player to renew his contract, and knowing the Napoli president, he will do everything in his power to keep the player until this summer and then try to change his mind or sell him at the highest bidder.
