Forget Juventus and Inter, Romelu Lukaku to join another Premier League club. The Negotiations are ongoing

Tottenham Hotspur are on the hunt for Kane’s replacement and have initiated talks with the Blues, which could keep the Belgian striker in London.

With about two weeks remaining in the summer transfer window, the future of Romelu Lukaku remains entirely uncertain. Dialogues between Chelsea (where the Belgian is completely out of the project despite the lack of forwards and trains alone) and Juventus for a swap involving Vlahovic have stalled.

As Lukaku has consistently turned down lucrative Arab offers, the potential suitors have dwindled. However, in the past few hours, Tottenham has entered the scene. With the need to replace Harry Kane, who has moved to Munich, Spurs have decided to test the waters for the 30-year-old Belgian.

Lukaku comes with a relatively modest price tag (โ‚ฌ45 million) and Premier League experience, although he has expressed on multiple occasions that he no longer wishes to play there.

In the event of a transfer to Tottenham, Lukaku would remain in London and might have to settle for a lower salary than his current โ‚ฌ10.8 million. However, with the negotiations with Juventus (with whom he already has a three-year agreement) now at a standstill and time passing, the Belgian will likely have to make a compromise if he truly wants to avoid playing in Saudi Arabia.

Even Lukaku probably isn’t the ideal solution for Postecoglou’s style of play, but at the moment, Spurs have only the 19-year-old Argentine Alejo Veliz, newly acquired from Rosario Central, and Richarlison, who scored just one goal in the Premier League last year, as their attacking options. Therefore, they need an experienced striker who brings goals, and Lukaku fits that profile.

Contacts between the two teams have been initiated, and an agreement is possible. The โ‚ฌ45 million transfer fee won’t be an issue for Tottenham, given their recent inflow of over โ‚ฌ100 million. The key will be reaching an agreement with Lukaku, which also seems plausible because… sometimes settling is satisfying. Meanwhile, Juventus is observing the situation from afar.
