The Argentine judiciary continues to investigate this case that has shocked the music world.
The death of British singer Liam Payne on October 16 shocked the world, especially his fans. The musician, 31 years old, lost his life after falling from the third floor of a hotel in Buenos Aires. Known as a member of the global sensation One Direction, Payne had achieved worldwide fame.
More than two months later, the Argentine judiciary is still investigating the case, which has left more questions than answers. Recent reports from local media reveal that five people have been charged in connection with Payneโs death. The court has ordered their arrest, with two suspects set to appear immediately before an investigating judge.
Among the suspects are former waiter Brian Paez and a hotel employee where Payneโs fatal fall occurred. Both are accused of drug supply with the intent to profit. Another individual charged is businessman Roger Norez, who faces allegations of involuntary manslaughter. Norez has been barred from leaving the country and fined 50 million pesos.
Two additional individuals linked to the hotel have been implicated: Gilda Martin, the hotel manager present at the time of Payne’s death, and Esteban Grasi, a business manager.
According to the prosecutorโs office, Payneโs body tested positive for alcohol, cocaine, and antidepressants during the last 72 hours of his life.
The investigation confirmed that the musician was provided with “at least” four doses of narcotics and other addictive substances. An autopsy revealed that Payneโs death was caused by “multiple injuries” and “internal and external bleeding” resulting from his fall from the third floor.
Key evidence suggests that Payne was in a semi-conscious or completely unconscious state at the time of his fall, shedding light on the tragic circumstances surrounding his death.
