The Inter coach, after the 1-2 loss against Sassuolo at the Meazza: “We will analyze the defeat. Sanchez? He didn’t go through the full preparation with ys, but he will be a great help.”
Sooner or later, the winning run had to come to an end, But Inter‘s defeat against Sassuolo was unexpected: because it occurred at the Giuseppe Meazza, and because the Nerazzurri had a perfect record after five Serie A matches, and because Denzel Dumfries‘ goal at the end of the first half had given them the lead.
Simone Inzaghi is naturally dissatisfied with the result that has allowed Milan to catch up at the top of the league: “We had a good first half against a strong and in-form team,” the coach commented, “but considering what we created, we should have scored more than one goal. We started the second half well, but then there was the injury that led to the equalizer, after that we simply lost our composure. Then, Berardi scored a beautiful goal.”
Inzaghi continues his analysis: “Real Sociedad and Sassuolo have some similarities, it’s true, but in the first half, we were good at covering the field, and we didn’t suffer much except for two counterattacks.
“Of course, Domenico Berardi‘s masterpiece for the 1-2 goal leaves an impression: He deserves a lot of credit, both he and Laurientรฉ. We know him, and he has great shooting qualities; it’s a fantastic goal, and unfortunately, it was against us. After the 1-2, we were out.”
Certainly, the morale in the Inter dressing room is not at its best after the defeat: “The guys are down because of a defeat that disappoints us in front of our fans. We will analyze the game, knowing that we’ll be back on the field in 48 hours. We need to understand where we could have done better.”
Finally, a comment on the striker crisis: “Sanchez didn’t have any preseason and has been training for a month, but he will be a great help. Arnautovic’s injury takes away some rotation, which we know is important.”
