The Bianconeri coach commented the defeat at Sassuolo: “We started well, but then we conceded a goal and gave up mentally. Vlahovic not performing well? The match wasn’t good in general, but we shouldn’t get discouraged.”
The goal to surpass Inter temporarily failed. Juventus fell to Sassuolo at the Mapei Stadium in a match filled with incidents, marking a small setback for the Bianconeri’s season.
“From this game, we can and only need to learn – Allegri analyzed in the post-match interview on DAZN. We weren’t geniuses before, and we’re not that bad now.”
Mentally, we weren’t there, and that’s what we need to improve because we’re losing important points. The game started well because we had easy chances, but we couldn’t capitalize on them. Then, we lost our heads and lost the match.”
The coach had noticed some negative signs during the week: “I’ve been in this situation before, I know some of these teams and their strengths, but there are moments when we need to do better” – he explained.
“The warnings had already come during the trainings in the previous days, we tried to do better than that, but unfortunately, the result isn’t good for us. We shouldn’t get discouraged tho, because we have an important match at home on Tuesday (Against Lecce), and we need to get back to winning immediately.”
“Today, we were struggling too much” – Allegri added – at this moment, we still don’t have the ability to switch our mood within the game, to maintain continuity. The feeling today was that as soon as they brought the ball into our area, we struggled, and this should make us understand many things.”
The Juventus coach also commented on Vlahovic‘s performance: “He had a couple of important situations that he didn’t capitalize on – he concluded – and for a couple of days, he hasn’t been in top form. The match was ugly in general, not just him.
“Sassuolo tends to break up the game, keeping three players up front, and if it turns into a chaotic game, anything can happen. They were good at scoring, while we made mistakes” concluded the coach.
