Salernitana’s representatives engaged in positive discussions with Filippo Inzaghi regarding a potential appointment as the club’s next head coach.
These discussions arose in the wake of ongoing speculation that Salernitana is contemplating parting ways in the coming days with their current manager, Paulo Sousa. Sousa finds himself in a challenging position, being one of just three coaches in Serie A yet to secure a victory in the 2023-24 season.
As a result of this struggle, Salernitana currently occupies the 19th position in the league, with only 3 points from their first 8 matches.Additionally, reports suggest that Salernitana’s leadership is dissatisfied with Sousa’s previous expressions of interest in talks with other clubs during the summer. There were even considerations of ending the working relationship a few months ago.
With Paulo Sousa’s future at Salernitana now shrouded in uncertainty, it is increasingly likely that the club will seek a new coach during the international break. Should a change in management occur, Filippo Inzaghi emerges as the frontrunner to assume the role. Inzaghi, most recently in charge of Reggina during the 2022-23 season.
