‘When I see a dictator, I know it and Lebron, he is one’
Enes Kanter Freedom is the latest to criticize nepotism in the NBA. Bronny James, the son of LeBron James, was selected by the Los Angeles Lakers with the 55th overall pick, despite skepticism about his NBA potential. One scout even labeled Bronny as “not an NBA prospect” following his average of less than five points per game in his lone season at USC.
Bronny’s progress was hampered by a cardiac arrest over the summer, but scouts still had doubts about his abilities. Kanter Freedom didn’t hold back, asserting that Bronny’s draft selection was due to his father, LeBron. In an interview with OutKick’s “Don’t @ Me,” he said, “He might be a good dude, but he’s not good enough to play in the NBA. The reason he got drafted is because of LeBron. The reason JJ Redick is the coach is because of LeBron.”
Kanter Freedom’s Bold Claims
Kanter Freedom went further, claiming Bronny is the only player willing to team up with LeBron. “No other player wants to go play with LeBron. You had so many other free agents. No one wanted to go play with him, because they know that it’s all about LeBron,” he remarked.
“When the Lakers’ season fails, LeBron tries to find a player to blame, and he blamed the whole season on Russell Westbrook, so he is not a good teammate. Obviously, he runs the media, and he tries to control this narrative, but when you actually know and have a conversation inside of the NBA and its players, nobody wants to play with him.”
Kanter Freedom didn’t mince words, likening LeBron’s influence in the NBA to that of a dictator. “When I see a dictator, I know it – LeBron is literally like the dictator of the NBA. He controls the media, he controls his narrative, if you go against his agenda, you get traded, everybody knows it.”
This statement adds to the growing criticism of perceived favoritism and power dynamics within the league, highlighting the controversial nature of Bronny James’ draft selection.
