Mike Maignan or Gianluigi Donnarumma? Mario Balotelli reveales which of last 2 Milan goalkeepers he prefers.
In a recent interview on TvPlay, former Milan striker Mario Balotelli shared his thoughts on Milan’s recent 2-1 victory over PSG in the Champions League. Balotelli, who had the opportunity to play alongside both goalkeepers, Gianluigi Donnarumma and Mike Maignan, expressed his preference.
Having shared the pitch with Donnarumma, Balotelli noted, “Maignan is always attentive, he always wants to play fast. He is unique because of that. But I am fond of Gigio, I played with him and I know him, therefore – having to choose between the two – I would definitely take Donnarumma.“
Balotelli went on to express his hopes for Donnarumma’s success, stating, “I hope he takes Italy to the Euros and proves to those who hate on him that he is a very strong goalkeeper.” The two players had a brief overlap in their careers, playing the 2015-16 season together at Milan and sharing experiences in multiple Italy training camps.
Reflecting on Tuesday’s match, Balotelli mentioned the electric atmosphere at San Siro, emphasizing his desire for Milan’s victory. “The atmosphere was nice, going to see Milan is always nice. In the Champions League, you feel it even more, so I certainly wanted Milan to win.”
