AC Milanโs first reinforcement of the January transfer market is a striker and he will arrive from Serbia. Matija Popovic of Partizan Belgrade.
As per the latest reports by Gianluca Di Marzio, AC Milan‘s management has successfully reached an agreement on personal terms with Matija Popovic. This arrangement paves the way for his winter transfer on a free basis, considering his current weird contract’s expiration on December 31st.
Popovic is poised to become a Milan player. While the finer details are yet to be ironed out, the forward will set foot in Italy after reaching the age of 18, starting from January 8 onwards. During this period, he will undergo the customary medical examinations and formalize the contract.
The contractual agreement with the player spans until June 2028, committing him to the Rossoneri for four and a half years. Recognizing his promising potential, Milan plans to integrate him immediately into training with the first team.
Popovic boasts a skill set that includes dribbling, speed, and a slender physique at 195cm tall. Notably, at the U17 Euros in May, Popovic played a pivotal role in Serbia’s 2-1 victory over Italy and a 1-1 draw against Lamine Yamal’s Spain, contributing all three assists.
The young talent has attracted interest from major football clubs, including Real Madrid, Juventus, and Barcelona, along with several other domestic and international teams. Barcelona, in particular, made a strategic move by dispatching representatives to Belgrade in an attempt to secure the deal, but their efforts proved unsuccessful.
Credit goes to the commendable efforts of the trio Furlani, Moncada, and D’Ottavio for ensuring that Popovic will soon don the Rossoneri jersey.
