The actress previously said, “I don’t think it would have been a good idea for me to have married”
Diane Keaton, known for her role in “Book Club: The Next Chapter,” is happily single at 77. In an interview with AARP The Magazine for their April/May 2023 issue, Keaton discussed her career and why she never married.
She adopted her daughter, Dexter, now 27, and her son, Duke, now 22, in her 50s. Keaton mentioned that dating is “highly unlikely” for her now. “I don’t date. I can’t remember anyone calling me for a date,” she said.
When Extra asked her in January how long it had been since she dated, she responded, “Let’s say 15 years. People probably thought, ‘Enough’s enough, she’s too weird.’ I’m kind of odd, but I’m fine. Maybe someday someone will marry me, but not yet.”
Keaton has consistently shared her views on marriage. In a 2019 interview with PEOPLE, she explained she never wanted to be a wife. “I’m 73 and I think I’m the only one in my generation who has always been single,” she reflected.
Despite dating high-profile individuals like Woody Allen, Warren Beatty, and Al Pacino, Keaton feels content. “I needed more of a maternal aspect in my life, this is why it would have never worked. Marriage wouldn’t have been a good idea for me, and I’m glad I didn’t do it. I’m sure they’re happy about it too,” she concluded.
