Prince William and Prince Harry have been distant from each other for several years, particularly since the Duke of Sussex (Harry) began revealing private family matters during interviews and in his memoir, profiting by using the family name.

THEIR MOTHER WANTED THEM TO BE CLOSE TO EACH OTHER

Princess Diana’s desire for them to be close. The brothers were once close, especially after William married Kate Middleton. However, tensions arose after Harry wed Meghan Markle, and their bond deteriorated.

Initially, there was skepticism from the media regarding Prince Harry’s marriage to Meghan Markle, an American actress and a complete outsider, compared to the previous princesses. As time passed, the scrutiny intensified, with Meghan frequently being compared to Kate Middleton, leading to increased complexities in their situation.

After a few years, Meghan Markle’s experiences within the royal family reportedly included instances of racism and differential treatment, as detailed in memoirs. Markle expressed surprise at the subtler forms of racism that were consistently present. Many critics, including journalist and comedian John Oliver, questioned her astonishment given the well-documented complexities of royal relationships.

THEIR MOTHER’S WISH WON’T COME TRUE… AT LEAST NOT NOW

According to Royal expert Charles Rae, Princess Diana had always hoped for Prince William and Prince Harry to maintain a strong, close relationship as brothers. Rae expressed sadness over their current distance, stating, “They were really, really close. And this is what makes it so sad that they’re now so far apart.” Diana’s wish for her sons to remain united against external challenges now appears unfulfilled.

With Harry now outside of William’s immediate circle, the future king will likely seek counsel and support from individuals outside of his family.
