After a news conference at the Manhattan courtroom, De Niro mixed it up with a crowd of protesters who called him a “little punk” whose “movies suck.”
Outside the Manhattan courtroom the legendary actor Robert De Niro and two Capitol officers faced an adversary public who was criticizing him and every move he makes.
Then in a press conference held, De Niro spoke passionately, referencing the aftermath of the Twin Towers’ fall. He stressed, “We vowed we would not allow other attacks to change our way of life. I love this city. I don’t want to destroy it.
Donald Trump wants to destroy not only the city but the country, and eventually he can destroy the world.” He added, “If that guy returns to the White House, you can kiss these freedoms goodbye. And elections โ forget about it. That’s over; that’s done. If he gets in, he will never leave.”
After the event, De Niro confronted pro-Trump protesters who called him a “wannabe,” “paid sell-out,” and “little punk.” De Niro responded, “You’re not going to intimidate. That’s what your President does. We are going to fight back. We’re trying to be gentlemen in this world. YOU ARE ALL GANGSTERS .”
In the heated exchange, a protester yelled, “You’re washed up,” to which De Niro retorted, “F— you.” Despite the tension, one fan in the crowd shouted, “I loved you in ‘Taxi Driver’!”
This incident underscored the intense emotions and divisions ahead of the upcoming election and Trump’s legal issues.
