The 50-year-old was killed by the sniper who tried to assassinate Donald Trump
Former Pennsylvania volunteer fire chief Corey Comperatore has been identified as the man killed by a sniper during an attempted assassination of former President Donald Trump.
The tragic incident occurred at a PA Trump Rally where Comperatore, 50, lost his life while trying to protect his daughter. The shooter, Thomas Matthew Crooks, wounded the former president and injured two others before being killed by law enforcement.
Dawn Comperatore Schafer, Corey’s sister, shared the heartbreaking news on Facebook, stating, “The PA Trump Rally claimed the life of my brother, Corey Comperatore. The hatred for one man took the life of the one man we loved the most.”
She described her brother as a hero who died shielding his daughter. “Hatred has no limits, and love has no bounds. Pray for my sister-in-law, nieces, my mother, sister, me, and his nieces and nephews as this feels like a terrible nightmare but we know it is our painful reality.”
Corey’s wife and daughter also shared their experiences from that day. His daughter, Allyson, wrote, “He shielded my body from the bullet that came at us. He loved his family. He truly loved us enough to take a real bullet for us,” describing her father as “a real-life superhero.”
His wife, Helen, expressed her grief, saying, “Yesterday, what turned out to be such an exciting day for my husband especially, turned into a nightmare for our family. What my precious girls had to witness is unforgivable. What I had to was. He died the hero he always was.”
Corey Comperatore’s bravery and love for his family will be remembered by those who knew and loved him. His tragic death highlights the senselessness of violence and the boundless nature of a father’s love.
My husband and I are so sorry for your loss. Your family are in our prayers.
I am deeply sorry for the loss of your father. This tragedy should never have occurred. But I thank God your father loved you and protected you from also being injured or killed. My prayers go out to you and your family. I can somewhat understand what you are going through. My mother and I watched my fathers plane crash in a field behind their home. We were the first responders and pulled him out of the wreckage and away from a potential fire. Unfortunately he didn’t make it. There are so many things I don’t remember following this accident. But two things I know for sure. My dad would have taken a bullet for any of us six kids, and that God was with us as we witnessed the crash and HE never left us, not for one second afterwards. I don’t know why bad things happen to good people, but I know that my faith and trust in the Lord has continued to grow because he also carried me for days and weeks after that and again when two of my son’s died nine years apart. I pray for comfort, that you know you are loved and that it sounds to me like your Dad has earned his wings and will continue to watch over you. May God our father and His son Jesus Christ, cradle you in loving arms and carry you forward as you preserve precious memories of the good times you all had. Diana
