On February 5th, 2022, during her first set at Tempe Improv comedy club, Heather McDonald fainted and fell backward. She shared on her podcast that although she is generally okay, she feels a bit “woozy” and has been advised against driving. The incident occurred after she made a joke about Jesus, leading to an unforeseen development in the evening’s events.
After fainting at the comedy club, Heather McDonald had to spend the night in the ICU and an additional day in a regular hospital room. It was only after she reassured her fans via an Instagram Story video that she learned about her black eyes.
In her own words, McDonald shared, “I really don’t want to reveal how bad it is, but I have two completely black eyes, which I guess is a result of when you hit the back of your head really hard.” She clarified that there was no specific cause for the fall, ruling out any underlying health issues.
During her video, McDonald removed her sunglasses to reveal the extent of her injuries. She explained, “Now I’m just recovering from having a concussion. So I did have a fracture in my skull, which caused some internal bleeding. But then the next CAT scan the morning after showed it was already starting to heal itself.”
Despite the ordeal, McDonald expressed gratitude for having her family present during the incident, albeit jokingly mentioning her husband’s absence during the whole saga.
