Champions League, UEFA rewards; €35 million for the Italian teams. Here’s who’s getting the most

Here’s how much Napoli, Milan, Inter, and Lazio are earning in relation to the results of the first 3 matchdays of the Champions League

Fresh money is on the way for the teams participating in the 2023/2024 edition of the Champions League. According to “Calcio e Finanza,” on Friday, UEFA will disburse a total of €284.55 million to the 32 participating clubs:

€134.4 million for the performance bonuses from their first three matches of the tournament and €150.15 million for the initial part of the market pool. As for the Italian teams, Napoli, Inter, Milan, and Lazio will receive a total of €34.7 million, which could be very useful for the January transfer market.

In terms of the results from the group stage, the Serie A clubs achieved a total of 5 wins, 4 draws, and 3 losses. Let’s break down how much each Italian team has “earned” in this initial phase. In this round of payments, Napoli will receive the highest amount. Following them are Inter, Lazio, and Milan.

Thanks to the market pool, which rewards the previous season’s league victory, Napoli will be credited with €12.4 million. With two wins and a draw, the best performance among the Italian clubs so far, Inter will receive a bonus of €9.93 million. Next is Lazio, earning €8.83 million from UEFA through a combination of the market pool (over €5 million) and the results achieved so far (one win, 1 draw, and 1 loss). Lastly, Milan brings up the rear in terms of revenue with only €3.56 million. The Rossoneri are affected by both their fourth-place finish in Serie A last season and their weak performance in the Champions League up to this point, which includes 2 draws and 1 loss.
