Carmelo Anthony just revealed details about how trade offers are reaching LeBron James
LeBron James, the four-time NBA Champion and key figure for the Los Angeles Lakers, has lately been the subject of trade rumors. However, his close friend and former teammate, Carmelo Anthony, recently weight his own opinon on the speculations, emphasizing James’ control over his own career moves.
Speaking on his 7PM in Brooklyn podcast, Anthony shed light on how teams approach trade scenarios involving James. “Front offices are always exploring options, trying to piece together potential packages,” Anthony revealed. “They’re making calls and testing the waters to gauge interest.”
Despite these efforts, Anthony made it clear that the final decision lies with LeBron. “LeBron controls the trades. If he ever decides to be traded, he’ll make it happen. Right now, that door is firmly shut because LeBron wants it that way” he stated confidently.
LeBron has never been traded before in his life
In a league where trades often define a superstar’s journey, LeBron James stands out. Over his 20-year career, James has never been traded, a rare feat that underscores his unparalleled control and influence in the NBA. Even last season, when trade rumors swirled, James shut them down by refusing offers at the trade deadline.
Adding to this, Jovan Buha of The Athletic emphasized the Lakers’ stance, describing James and Anthony Davis as “untouchables” within the organization. “The two players who are almost guaranteed to stay in Los Angeles—unless they request otherwise—are Davis and James,” Buha explained.
Carmelo Anthony Reflects on Missed Lakers Opportunities
Carmelo Anthony has often shared intriguing stories about trade scenarios, and one of the most notable involves the Los Angeles Lakers. Speaking on Dwyane Wade’s podcast earlier this year, Anthony revealed a near-trade during the prime of Kobe Bryant and Pau Gasol that could have changed NBA history.
“The deal was done,” Anthony recounted. “It was supposed to be me and Nene for Lamar Odom and Andrew Bynum. But it never happened.”
While Anthony eventually joined the Lakers in 2021, the missed chance to team up with Bryant and Gasol remains one of basketball’s great “what if” moments. It’s a reflection of how different the league’s landscape might have been had that trade gone through.
