Capello’s words: “If this is the world of business, I don’t understand it. I think some people like Maldini and Mourinho deserve more respect. Paolo himself represent Milan’s history.”
Fabio Capello has commented on Jose Mourinho‘s dismissal. The former AS Roma and Milan coach gave an exclusive interview to Marca, and here are his harsh words towards the new Football owners: “Today, there is no respect for big figures; what they did to Mourinho few days ago, they did the same to Paolo Maldini few months ago. “
“You can fire someone because the coaching profession involves the risk of leaving at any moment, and you accept that, that is part of our job. But then, when you can’t wait to go into the locker room to tell Mourinho that he is no longer the coach of Roma or Maldini that he is no longer the sports director of Milan. I mean please, come on now! Come, let’s talk calmly, invite me as you should and then decide what you want. This is what respect mean to me, this is education.”
“These Americans work like this, this doesn’t only happen in football. Lehman Brothers went to its employees, gave them a cardboard box to pack their things, and put them on the street… It’s their style, but I certainly don’t understand it. If this is the business world, I don’t understand it.”
“I think people like Maldini, who alone represents a big part of the history of Milan, should be told things with respect, and wait until the end of the season. You can fire Mourinho because he’s the coach, but you can’t tell him that in the locker room.”
