During a recent Lakers-Nuggets game, Bronny James found himself in a courtside exchange with a heckling fan that quickly went viral.
The spectator, sitting near the court and wearing a prominent chain, shouted something at James, drawing the young player’s attention.
Without hesitation, Bronny fired back with a quick but cutting response: “Your chain is fake.”
The moment gained traction online, with fans and commentators discussing James’s ability to stand his ground in the face of trash talk.
Security stepped in to keep the situation under control, but the quick-witted exchange left an impression on many, with some seeing it as a sign of Bronny stepping into his own identity apart from his father, NBA legend LeBron James.
Bronny’s Growth on and off the Court
In his rookie season with the Lakers, Bronny James has been steadily developing his game.
Selected 55th overall in the second round of the NBA Draft, the former USC guard has been balancing time between the Lakers and their G League affiliate.
Following the game, Bronny spoke in an interview about his experience
On His Role and Recent Progress
“Yeah, I thought I played pretty well in the role I’m in—being a defensive guy,“ Bronny said. “You know, making the right plays, knocking down a couple of threes. Just filling a role—that’s my biggest thing right now, just doing what my team needs. Obviously, we were down some guys, so I just have to stay ready whenever my name is called.”
On G League Assignments
When asked about how decisions are made regarding where he plays, Bronny admitted that the process is unpredictable.
“I don’t really know until 24 hours or less beforehand. I’m just always staying ready for whatever comes my way and just going out and playing my hardest.”
On His Confidence and Development
“I feel great. I’m one of the younger guys on the team, so I’m just trying to learn as much as I can every day,” he shared. “And just getting reps—that’s good for me, whether that’s in the G League or up here. I think I’ve done that pretty well so far, so I’m just going to keep doing that.”
