Bronny James opens up about his health struggles
Bronny James has faced more than the pressure of carrying the James legacy as he begun his career with the Lakers. The 20-year-old guard has dealt with challenges on and off the court, stemming from a cardiac arrest he suffered in July 2023.
“Trying to get past that… It’s difficult, but I’m trying to work at it every day,” Bronny admitted, speaking about the mental toll the health scare has taken on him. His sudden collapse during a practice at USC not only disrupted his freshman season but also caused his draft stock to drop. Once seen as a potential lottery pick, Bronny was ultimately selected 55th overall in the 2024 NBA Draft.
Despite the setback, Bronny’s optimism remains unwavering, bolstered by the support of his family. “My family, my parents, they are extremely thankful that Iโm not only able to play basketball but also just walk around and speak to other people,” he shared. “Itโs a blessing to be able to play this sport that I love. There was a chance I wasnโt going to be able to. So, I wake up, and Iโm thankful for that every day.”

“I’m just showing up every day, trying to get better every day, trying to learn every day, and playing my game every day,” Bronny shared, highlighting his commitment to growth and improvement.
On Saturday, Bronny delivered another standout performance, scoring 23 points, grabbing nine rebounds, and dishing out five assists in a narrow loss to the Cleveland Charge. His efforts didnโt go unnoticed, with his father, LeBron James, proudly celebrating his sonโs accomplishments on social media.
