Anthony Edwards and the Wolves receive another big blow after going down to Oklahoma City Thunder

Even when heโ€™s trying to be self-critical, Anthony Edwards just canโ€™t help being Anthony Edwards.

Following the Timberwolves’ Game 1 loss to the Oklahoma City Thunder in the Western Conference Finals, the All-Star guard voiced frustration over his own offensive performance and he did it in classic Ant fashion: with some unfiltered language.

โ€œI only took 13 f—ing shots,โ€ Edwards said, referring to his 18-point, 5-for-13 shooting night.

The NBA wasnโ€™t amused.

The NBA Responds

On Thursday, the league announced a $50,000 fine for Edwards due to the use of profanity in a live media settingโ€”a penalty that adds to his growing list of infractions this season.

With this latest sanction, Edwards has now racked up an estimated $420,000 in fines during the 2024โ€“25 campaign. Whether itโ€™s heated postgame interviews or on-court outbursts, the league has repeatedly cracked down on the Timberwolves starโ€™s colorful vocabulary.

And with the Western Conference Finals still underway, the total could climb even higher.

Ant Being Ant

Whether itโ€™s part of the fiery persona heโ€™s built, or just raw emotion, Edwardsโ€™ habit of saying exactly whatโ€™s on his mind continues to cost him.

But with the Timberwolves locked into a tough series against OKC, fans are hoping Ant channels that passion into production in Game 2.

Game 1 Recap: A Rough Night for the Wolves

The Timberwolves struggled offensively in Game 1, falling 114โ€“95 to the Thunder. Minnesota shot just 42.6% from the field and 5-of-23 from three, with Anthony Edwards scoring 18 points on 5-of-13 shooting, along with 9 rebounds and 3 assists.

The Thunderโ€™s defense smothered Edwards for much of the night, and with the Wolves falling behind early, frustration clearly carried over into the postgame presser.
