Another twist: Milan and Inter to stay? the City offers €300 million plan for San Siro. All the details

Surprise move by the Municipality of Milan: on January 31, further details will be revealed, a possible fourth ring.

The Municipality of Milan doesn’t want Inter and Milan to leave San Siro. Therefore, it is considering presenting a plan of around €300 million to renovate the Meazza. The project, set to be unveiled on January 31 during a special event, and includes the construction of a fourth ring (not in height but complementary to the existing structure) and an increase of 5,000 seats. This would raise the capacity to 75,000, with 10,000 premium seats, meaning they can be sold at significantly higher prices.

The renovation, which also involves changes to the stadium’s access, according to La Repubblica, would also see a redesign of the entire ‘San SIro’ neighbourhood. Importantly, all the work could be carried out without forcing the clubs to play in another stadium.

INTER AND MILAN’S REACTION

Inter and Milan’s reaction remains to be seen, as they had explored other options due to difficulties encountered with the initial project. Both clubs have already real projects in their hand, but will definitely look closely at this possiblity to remain at the current location.

If approved, the Municipality would subsequently launch a new tender for the building and the final and executive project. Then all the old planes will have to change again for a new and a final solution (hopefully).
