Alyssa Farah Griffin and her husband Justin Griffin have welcomed their first child, marking a major personal milestone for the television commentator and co-host of The View.
The couple’s son, Justin Patrick Griffin Jr., was born on February 10, 2026, and was named after his father. The news was shared publicly one week later during the February 17 broadcast of the ABC daytime show.
A long journey to parenthood
During the episode, Whoopi Goldberg informed viewers that “mom, dad, and Justin, Jr. are doing well,” adding that the new parents did not yet have the “sleep deprived look.” Sunny Hostin shared that she had texted Griffin that morning and joked that the reality of newborn exhaustion would eventually set in. Joy Behar also celebrated the baby’s arrival, saying she was excited to see him and expressing her affection for babies.
PEOPLE debuted the first exclusive photo of the newborn, while The View also showed the image during its broadcast.
Griffin, 36, first revealed her pregnancy in October 2025. In an interview with PEOPLE, she described a two-year effort to conceive that included five rounds of in vitro fertilization.
During that process, she learned she had endometriosis, a condition in which tissue similar to the uterine lining grows outside the uterus and can complicate fertility. “I went undiagnosed my whole life until I started this process,” she told the outlet at the time.
She credited her husband, 37, for his constant support throughout the experience. “I feel so lucky to have such an incredible partner,” she said. Justin Griffin praised his wife’s resilience, explaining that her determination carried them through each round of IVF. He said her mindset remained consistent from beginning to end.
Looking ahead, Justin said he hopes to create for their son the same close family dynamic he experienced growing up. Alyssa described parenthood as a “blank slate of endless possibilities,” adding that she could not imagine a better partner for the responsibility.
Guest hosts and viewer response
As Griffin remains on maternity leave, The View has introduced a rotation of guest co-hosts. Savannah Chrisley appeared on the February 17 episode.
Chrisley is known as the daughter of Todd and Julie Chrisley, who were convicted in June 2022 of federal charges including conspiracy to commit bank fraud, bank fraud, wire fraud, and conspiracy to defraud the IRS. Todd Chrisley was sentenced to 12 years in prison for defrauding local and community banks of more than $30 million and tax evasion.
In May 2025, President Trump granted a full and unconditional pardon to Todd and Julie Chrisley, resulting in their release from federal prison after serving less than three years. The pardon followed lobbying efforts by Savannah Chrisley, who later spoke at the 2024 Republican National Convention and referred to her family as the “Trumps of the south.”
Some viewers reacted online to Griffin’s absence, congratulating her while also urging her return to the show. Despite the on-air changes and public commentary, the defining headline remains the safe arrival of Justin Patrick Griffin Jr. after a years-long journey to parenthood.
