Allegri: ‘You can’t win every game in football. Inter are the strongest, we only want to be in Top 4’

The coach after the 1-1 draw with Empoli: “The game was influenced by the expulsion, but we performed well. The goal is to be among the top four by May.”

Max Allegri remains calm after Juventus draws 1-1 at home against Empoli. “The team played well and didn’t lose its composure even after going down to ten men. In football, you can’t win every game. The unexpected red card complicated everything,” said the Juve coach. When asked about the title race, he stated: “Inter is the favorite; we only aim to be in the top four by May.”

Regarding Milik’s expulsion, Allegri said: “It’s unfortunate to happen that early, but that’s football. Despite it, we performed well and extended our positive streak. Losing would have hurt us.” Allegri then acknowledged the unexpected success of Juventus, saying, “No one expected Juventus to be on top at the beginning of the new year. We aim to finish in the top 4; winning every game is impossible.”

Talking about the missed opportunities, Allegri said, “Even in 10 we tried to win this game. We had two great chances in the first half, and we took the lead early in the second half. There was another chance where Cambiaso slipped and could have scored, but that’s football. The boys did well.”

Looking ahead to the title showdown with Inter on February 4th, Allegri shifted the pressure onto Inter, saying, “We’re playing against the strongest team in the league; it will be a good match, but they are the favorites.”

Finally, Allegri addressed his recent jokes, saying, “Unfortunately, my Livorno humor bothers some; not everyone finds it funny. I realize I need to stop. I apologize if I’ve touched anyone’s sensitivity; I’m sorry,” concluded the coach.
