“Staying two points behind Inter is a good achievement. Losing could have hurt us, but we could have done better on Lautaro’s goal.” Max Allegri after the derby
After the draw with Inter, Massimiliano Allegri sees the glass half full but is bitter about the conceded goal. “The team put in a good performance, and it wasn’t easy against the league leaders,” explained the Juventus coach. “It had been three years since Juve played for the top spot in the standings. We conceded a silly goal only five minutes after scoring,” he added. “We could have done better. Lautaro was clever on the goal, but we should have committed a foul before. Staying two points behind Inter is a great achievement,” he continued.
“Today, more than winning, it was important not to lose. It gives you a different awareness to continue growing. Losing could have hurt us. It wasn’t easy for everyone, including me, as it had been a while since I played a game for the top of the standings,” Max continued. “The boys did well, but we can improve. Now there will be the Monza game, and it will be a tough challenge.”
“Our goal remains to be into the top four. Meanwhile, we’ve maintained the 9-point advantage over the fifth place, which is what we want,” he added. “Today’s we played the right game, in the right way against that can score when you make the smallest mistake,” the Juventus coach emphasized.
Allegri also shared some thoughts on Inter’s goal. “They were clever in the action, maneuvering quickly,” he explained. “Rugani could have touched the ball with his hand and stopped the play; then, Bremer should have challenged Thuram. We could have done better in that situation.”
Regarding Vlahovic’s performance, Allegri was satisfied: “Dusan had the best game since he arrived at Juve, both physically and technically. I am very happy. He is a player who hadn’t scored in the last two months and can only grow. He’s only 23.”
Finally, a comment on the transfer market: “The January transfer market doesn’t exist. I am very happy with the team. Teams are built in June.”
