Alan Jackson with a heartbreaking statement: But, the singer will continue doing what he does best

The country singer was diagnosed with Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease, a chronic condition that affects motor skills

Alan Jackson, the renowned country artist, is extending his “Last Call: One More for the Road Tour,” which originally began in 2022. This decision comes as he continues to battle major health issues. “Fans know when they come to my shows, they’re going to hear the songs that made me who I am — the ones they love,” Jackson stated on his website.

Jackson’s career spans over 30 years, during which he has delighted fans with his music. Now, with his daughters grown and a grandchild already here, he is enjoying more time at home. Yet, his dedication to his fans remains unwavering. “My fans always show up to have a good time, and I’m going to give them the best show I can for this ‘Last Call,’” he promised.

The tour offers fans a final opportunity to experience Jackson’s live performances. His announcement to extend the tour comes a year after he disclosed his battle with Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease, a degenerative nerve condition diagnosed in 2011. This condition affects his motor skills, making it challenging for him to balance, especially on stage.

Battling Health Challenges

During an interview on the “Today” show, Jackson opened up about his struggles. “I have this neuropathy and neurological disease,” he explained. “It’s genetic that I inherited from my daddy. There’s no cure for it, but it’s been affecting me for years. And it’s getting more and more obvious.” He admitted feeling self-conscious on stage due to his balance issues.

Despite his health challenges, Jackson remains committed to his music. In 2023, he shared his plans to release new music, revealing his ongoing creative drive. “I’m always scribbling down ideas and thinking about melodies,” he said on his daughter Mattie Jackson’s “In Joy Life” podcast.

Writing songs, he confessed, is more fulfilling than anything else and keeps his interest alive. “If I didn’t write, I think I would’ve gotten bored just singing a long time ago,” he added.

Alan Jackson’s resilience and dedication to his craft continue to inspire his fans, ensuring that his farewell tour will be a memorable celebration of his remarkable career.
