Al Thani abandons Manchester United, another billionaire Zilliacus: ‘Now let’s buy Inter together.’

After months of lengthy negotiations and back-and-forth with the Glazer family, Jassim Bin Hamad Al Thani officially drops out of the race for Manchester United, and a Twitter post hints at what could be his next goal in the world of football.

Thomas Zilliacus, a Finnish billionaire who has been showing interest in Inter for months, has directly appealed to the Sheikh, inviting him to join his project. He wrote, ‘I’m glad to see that you have reached the same conclusion I arrived at a few months ago. Let’s join forces now and acquire a top Italian club and make it the best in the world!’

This social appeal leaves little to the imagination and opens up new scenarios for the future of Inter. If Jassim Bin Hamad Al Thani were to follow Zilliacus’s advice and take an interest in the Nerazzurri matter, the Zhang family could soon have a highly significant interlocutor to engage in concrete negotiations for the sale of the club.

For the acquisition of United, Al Thani had offered up to £5 billion without any bank debts. A sum rejected by the Glazers, but in Milano, it could be more than enough to take hold of Inter and transform the Nerazzurri into a European football giant with a colossal budget. This is, of course, assuming that there is genuine interest in Italian football on the part of the Sheikh. So far, there have been no official signals from Qatar in this regard.

Thomas Zilliacus is a former Nokia executive who went on to found Asia-Pacific Strategic Alliances Group and Mobile FutureWorks. These companies primarily operate in real estate, sports, and telecommunications, with a combined value of over $3 billion.

In recent months, he has been mentioned in connection with the purchase of Manchester United. However, he was unable to find the right partners for the acquisition and subsequently withdrew from the race for the English club. He has since shown significant interest in Inter.
