Actor Mark Wahlberg dedicates success to ‘Jesus, faith and prayer life.’ This is the key

Oscar-nominated actor Mark Wahlberg attributes his success to his faith and prayer life, describing his Christian belief as central to everything he does.

In an interview with Christian Headlines, Wahlberg emphasized the importance of his faith, saying, “I credit all of my personal and professional success to my faith and also dealing with all the difficulties in life, all the unexpected things that come your way constantly, especially if you’re lucky enough to get older — you experience a lot of death, a lot of suffering, a lot of loss.”

The 52-year-old actor finds great comfort in his faith, which helps him navigate life’s challenges. “In all of those things, I’m able to deal with those because I get great comfort from my faith. And so I just want to share that with people. People always want to know, โ€˜What do you credit your success to?โ€™ And that is at the forefront of everything,” he added.

Wahlberg recently appeared in a Super Bowl 2024 advertisement for the Catholic prayer app Hallow, alongside Jonathan Roumie of The Chosen. On Ash Wednesday, he made several national television appearances, including on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, where he wore an ash cross on his forehead.

In 2022, Wahlberg produced and starred in Father Stu, a biographical drama about a Catholic priest who maintained his faith despite developing a muscular disease. In his latest film, Arthur the King, he plays Mikael Lindnord, an athlete whose team encounters a wounded stray dog while competing in an adventure race in the Dominican Republic.

Mark Wahlberg kept the cross on his forehead as a visible sign of his Catholic faith, particularly in observance of Ash Wednesday. This day marks the beginning of Lent, a period of 40 days leading up to Easter, during which Christians engage in fasting, repentance, and reflection. The ash cross is a symbol of mortality and repentance, reminding believers of their faith and commitment to living a more disciplined and reflective life.
