Pioli’s Rossoneri Working on an Attacker to Partner with Giroud: Negotiations ongoing for the Albanian striker, while Ekitike deal remains more challenging
Olivier Giroud, a Frenchman who played for Chelsea, could find himself partnering with a piece of Chelsea or France alongside him in Milan’s attack.
Armando Broja made his first-team debut for the Blues in March 2020, replacing exactly Giroud; while Hugo Ekitike is among the profiles who are seen as a potential striker for the future of the national team.
Milan has set its sights on both players while considering the future of Lorenzo Colombo, who is sought after by Cagliari and Genoa. If the homegrown Rossoneri striker bids farewell as has happened in the last two summers, Portello is ready to make a move for another center-forward.
And in Milan’s shortlist, Broja is the leading candidate. In fact, Milan has already made inquiries with Chelsea, receiving a negative response for now. Even at Chelsea, evaluations are ongoing regarding the future of the Albanian striker born in 2001.
Pochettino, for the time being, is holding back from letting him go, wanting to observe the developments in the incoming transfer market. Similarly, Chelsea has not entertained the idea of selling Broja to West Ham, another club interested in the Albanian.
Broja, with 21 goals in 91 professional matches across Chelsea, Vitesse, and Southampton (two loans between 2020 and 2022), has recently recovered from an ACL injury that had sidelined him last December.
He’s eager to play more and his priority is to consistently perform at a high level. This is why Milan could be an excellent solution, and a loan with an option to buy would be an ideal arrangement that could satisfy everyone (the case of Tomori, redeemed by Milan for 28 million after a six-month loan for one million, could serve as a model).
