Majestic creatures like Mufasa, should be treated with dignity and respect. A full-grown mountain lion, unfortunately, endured 20 years of captivity and suffering in a traveling circus in Peru before a group of passionate animal advocates intervened to change his fate.
In today’s world, countless animals face abuse in the circuses, zoos, and other entertainment settings. While progress has been made, there remains much work to be done to ensure these innocent creatures receive the lives they deserve.
Mufasa’s story is a tragic example. Chained to the back of a pickup truck for two decades, he was denied freedom and subjected to a life he did not choose or deserve. Fortunately, in 2015, Animal Defenders International (ADI) took up Mufasa’s cause and tirelessly campaigned for his release. After months of effort, the animal was finally freed from his chains, marking a transformative moment in his life.
The impact of freedom on Mufasa was profound. No longer living in fear and confinement, he was able to experience the fundamental rights that all wild animals deserve – He will get the opportunity to spend his remaining years in nature, on his own terms and there is nothing that can be compared to this freedom.
