Olivier Giroud reflects on Milan’s Champions League win over PSG, emphasizing why he wasn’t concerned about their difficult start in the competition:
Speaking to Mediaset and Sky Sport Italia, Giroud said, “We are not pleased when we don’t win, so getting a goal was important, but our main aim was to secure the victory. We wanted to respond to our recent setbacks, and it turned out to be a perfect night.”
“We created numerous scoring opportunities, were more clinical than them, and that’s what made the difference. We all executed everything what coach Pioli asked. Experiencing moments like this at the age of 37 is truly wonderful.”
In the group standings, Borussia Dortmund currently tops the group with 7 points, followed by PSG with 6, Milan with 5, and Newcastle United with 4.
“We knew we had to win few games in the Champions League, so I wasn’t overly concerned before because I knew we were creating many scoring opportunities; we just needed to be more precise with our final passes and finishing” Giroud stated.
“We understand the significance of the Champions League, and we wanted to give our all for the fans who supported us every night. I’m proud of this team. The key was our efficiency in both penalty areas, as well as our tactical discipline. We all put in the effort to support our teammates. We had to give 110% of our abilities, and we achieved that tonight. We are really happy.”
