The RedBird and Rossoneri patron spoke to the New York Post: “We want to change the way football works. We want to apply the ‘moneyball’ strategy into the European football.”
Gerry Cardinale has spoken once again. The head of RedBird and the AC Milan shared his entrepreneurial vision with the New York Post.
He discussed investments, information, and even leveraging the well-known “moneyball” system. His Milan has embarked on a path primarily based on player’s data analysis from the strategies of MLB (Major League Baseball) and applied to the football transfer market.
In the last transfer session, with Moncada and Furlani at the helm, the Rossoneri brought in 10 players. Many of them have already made an impact, with standouts like Reijnders, Loftus-Cheek, and Pulisic.
Cardinale spoke about the various investment sectors his companies are involved in, various sports companies, football, media, and more.
“Skydance Media in Hollywood covers everything, from cinema films to sports content. This connects us to people like LeBron James, Ben Affleck and Matt Damon. Our first involvement in the film industry is the movie Air, the story of Nike & Michael Jordan.”
“Additionally, we have a data analysis business in sports that has its roots in baseball. Now we are applying this to European football (at Milan), so the connection is deep and definitely accelerating. We are already seeing the first results”
“Our measure of success is the creation of large companies that address needs or gaps in their respective industries. Today, everyone has the money: institutional asset managers, pension funds, investment organizations, even sovereign governments, so we need to be progressive.”
