The unexpected hero of the night. It’s a movie-like ending for goalkeeper Ivan Provedel, who, in his Champions League debut, scores the goal that secures a draw for Lazio against Atletico Madrid.
“Was I calm in celebrating? I honestly stil can’t believe what just happened,” says the ‘biancoceleste‘ goalkeeper. “I didn’t really realize I had scored. Tonight, I’m going to enjoy it, even though we didn’t win. We’re playing again on Saturday, so we need to improve our start in the league.”
Just like Immobile
The Laziale goalkeeper analyzed the goal like this: “I can say that I’ve studied Immobile; I see him making these movements every day. I saw that Luis Alberto had the ball, and usually, he curls it to the far post, so I inserted myself and the ball came right there.”
For Provedel, it’s not his first career goal; he had scored one in an Ascoli-Juve Stabia match. “There’s no ranking for the two goals I’ve scored; they’re both very important to me and were two different situations,” said the goalkeeper.
