Simone Biles’ birth mom tells why she abandoned Olympic hero daughter. Now she wants forgivness

One of the greatest American Olympians Simone Biles had a difficult childhood and found a home in an unexpected place, far from her parents. Her mom hopes for forgivness

“American gymnast hero Simone Biles was one of the biggest stars at the recently concluded Olympic Games in Paris, where she won four gold and one silver medal.

All of America was proud of the famous athlete, but no one more so than her family. Among them was her biological mother, Shanon Biles, who says she lives in hope that one day she and Simone will be on good terms again.

It is well known that the renowned gymnast had a very difficult childhood โ€“ her mother was a drug addict and was imprisoned several times, which led to her four children being taken away.

When Shanon’s father, Ron Biles, found out that his grandchildren had been placed in foster care, he immediately decided to take care of them. Simone’s grandfather and his second wife, Nellie Cayetano Biles, applied to adopt Simone and her younger sister, Adria, while Ron’s sister, Harriet, adopted the two older children, Tevin and Ashley.”

As the mother of the famous Olympian explains, it was “hard for her to give up her children,” but she “did what she had to do.” Not only were others taking care of them, but Shanon didn’t see them much either.

I couldnโ€™t take care of them. I was still using drugs, and my father didnโ€™t want me coming in and out of their lives when I wasnโ€™t well,” Shanon shared with the Daily Mail.

She expressed sadness over not being part of important moments in her children’s lives, like last year’s wedding of her daughter Simone to NFL star Jonathan Owens.

“I would like to make amends with Simone personally. I’m waiting for her and her younger sister Adria. I talk to Adria more than to Simone. I would just ask her to forgive me. Can we move forward? Donโ€™t judge me for my past. Letโ€™s move on,” says Simone Biles’ mother. “Iโ€™m waiting for the opportunity, but Iโ€™m waiting for her to come to me. Letโ€™s sit down and talk. I just have to be patient.”

Shanon added that she was so proud of her daughter during the Olympics that she threw a party after Simone confirmed her status as the “G.O.A.T,” meaning the greatest gymnast of all time.

Simone Biles’ mother is now 52 years old, and the Daily Mail reports that she has accumulated debts, lives in a small red-brick house in a dangerous neighborhood in Franklinton, and declared bankruptcy in 2018. At that time, she stated she had only $34, and according to court records in Franklin, she has faced various legal proceedings 36 times.
