Harrison Butker stands firm and doesn’t hold on his comments: “No regrets or apologies for my speech”

Harrison Butker, the Kansas City Chiefs kicker, continues to draw attention with his recent commencement speech at Benedictine College, a private Catholic liberal arts school in Kansas.

In his address, Butker made remarks suggesting that most female graduates were likely more excited about marriage and starting families than their degrees. He also criticized some Catholic leaders for promoting what he described as “dangerous gender ideologies” among America’s youth.

Despite facing significant backlash for his comments, Butker has received support from various teammates and fans.

BUTKER DOESN’T HOLD BACK

The controversy escalated when Butker, aged 28, reiterated his stance during his first public appearance since the speech. Speaking at a “Courage Under Fire” gala in Nashville, which supports a Catholic charity, Butker expressed surprise at the intense negative reaction his comments elicited but remained steadfast in his beliefs.

Butker emphasized his commitment to his Catholic faith, stating, “If it wasn’t clear that the timeless Catholic values are hated by many, it is now.” He reflected on his seven-year NFL career, noting that while he is accustomed to feedback related to his athletic performance, the discourse has shifted significantly since he began discussing his religious views more openly.

“The more I’ve talked about what I value most, my Catholic faith, the more polarizing I’ve become,” he said. Butker affirmed that his primary aim is to please Jesus Christ, not people, indicating no regrets about his decision to speak openly about his faith.
